About Marc Bir

I am currently the Chief Architect of a small (but deadly) consulting company focused on RIA development with Flex/Flash/Silverlight.  My background has run the gamut from companies as large as Citi and Enron to small tech shops in vertical markets.  I have always been on the tech side, especially focused on architecture and usability.  I have three gorgeous kids that love dancing and drawing, and a beautiful wife that is the source of all their talent.

Most of my time is spent either writing code or talking about writing code in Flex, AS3, C#, Java, Ruby, and various other languages as the needs arise.  I also talk at various user groups and industry conferences on a variety of tech topics.

This blog is focused on my adventures in the Flex world as I see it to be one of the most exciting and raw industries.  I’ve been using Flex since 1.5 (yech – spent way more time writing code in ultraedit than the Flex IDE).  Flex 2 got much better in terms of IDE and framework, Flex 3 is great but certainly has room for improvement.  RapidNinja has a few tricks up it’s sleeve that we are preparing to unleash on the world.  In the meantime enjoy my musings and feel free to contact me directly at marc at RapidNinja dot com

Willy, without seeing your code, I think the issue you may be seeing is that when the item is dropped it locks in the x and y of the top left corner of the item to where your cursor is positioned, even though your cursor may be positioned in the middle of the item, and thinking it will be dropped the same way
